I have been photographing orchids for many years now, and all of the photos on this site are from our own personal orchid collection, which is now in excess of 200 orchids. Occasionally, we buy an orchid at a show or from one of my suppliers and photograph it while it is still in bloom, but mostly we grow them in a sunroom and photograph them when they are re-blooming.
As our photograph collection grew, we started hand-making note cards from these orchid photographs and giving them to close friends, who urged us to make these available online so they can be purchased and shared with others.
Now, every photograph on this site is available as a 5"x7" blank greeting card or an 8"x10" matted photo. Each orchid photograph comes packaged in a plastic sleeve to protect it from dirt and fingerprints.
If you are looking for a catalog of species or hybrids with photographs for identification purposes, there are many other sites on the web that specialize in that, but we hope that you will enjoy viewing these photographs as much as we enjoy growing these orchids and photographing them.
Eventually, all photos will be organized by species. For now, they are in a random order. Every image here is also available as an 8x10 mounted and matted photograph, so you may pick and choose which size or format that you prefer.
The Smithsonian Institution has a select group of these note cards and 8x10 photographs on sale right now in their gift shop, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden has also selected their own group of note cards and 8x10 photographs from this web site. Other institutions may choose any of the photographs on this site and contact us about details on wholesale pricing.
Pre-printed invitations on the inside for special occasions or special printings on the back-side of the cards for table centerpieces are available, so please contact us with any of your requests.
